D8 sets up a system for PET-friendly recycling at TW Classic and the Rolling Stones @ Werchter.

Coca-Cola have always committed themselves to reducing waste at festivals sites. TW Classic and The Rolling Stones were the first open air concerts in Belgium to give thirsty music fans the opportunity to sip their cokes, not from a plastic cup but from a easy to recycle Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle. D8 and Coca-Cola turned the entire audience into a recycling army, recruiting the best of them to keep the site clean. A friendly gaggle of Coca-Cola Recycle Girls mingled among the crowd, handing out Coca-Cola Straps for easy PET bottle storage. Once mobilised, recyclers stored used & discarded Coca-Cola bottles by using these branded guitar-strappy devices, exclusively designed by D8. By keeping their recycling efforts hands-free, our recycling troops never missed a beat.

When your Coca-Cola Strap was full (20 bottles each), you wrote down your mobile number on one of the Coca-Cola bottles, dumped the lot at the Coca-Cola stand and waited for that winning call.

Several lucky recyclers walked away with a free t-shirt, a funky hat or even a bright red customised iPod.

Before we let our roadies pack it in for yet another amazing tour (de force), we’d like to thank the rest of the band. On drums: our co-workers and team members. You are the heart of this operation. On vocals: the creative crew. Even though you keep hogging all the groupies, we still have love for you. On lead guitar: our clients. Thanks for sticking with us, no matter how crazy our ideas may seem at first. You’re the McCartney to our Lennon. And last but not least: we wouldn’t be anywhere without our fans. Thank you, we love and good night!
